Voice of Divine Truth International Outreach; a foremost humanitarian organization in Nigeria recently organized a Free Food Kitchen to feed 10,000 poor people in Ikeja and its environs. The event which marked the celebration of Easter was put together to truly exemplify the significance of the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross when He died to save humanity.
According to the International Coordinator of the group, Mr. Azemobor Gregory also known as an 'Apostle of Humanity', who spoke at the event said, "The Easter Free Food Kitchen tagged 'Operation Feed the Poor' was put together to inspire individuals and organizations to urgently rise to challenge of eradicating global hunger. Many people in the world are hungry, not just for food but for love. It's untenable that in the midst of plenty some 769 million people in the world are hungry. Many children are malnourished and many are dying of starvation. The time has come for us to rise up to our shared humanity BY SHOWING LOVE AND COMPASSION TO ONE ANOTHER".
Speaking further, Azemobor said "Our organization has a divine mandate to promote the virtue of Love amongst humanity. This informs the numerous charitable activities that we do including the Free Food Kitchen. We are relentlessly determined as a group to intensify and sustain the campaign against hunger in the world. Let me kindly make an appeal to the church (my immediate constituency) and other religious bodies to join in this campaign bearing in mind that true religion is love for one another"
Azemobor also advises the church to downplay on the elaborate religious rituals of Easter celebration and rather focus on using the occasion to add value to lives by assisting the poor and the needy in the society.
