OUTSTANDING members of staff of Lagos Island Maternity Hospital were honoured when the Rotary Club of Lagos Central felicitated with the First Baby of the Year and the mother, Mrs. Oluwakemi Ogunlowo.
Speaking at the occasion, the Medical Director and Chief Executive, Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, Dr. Donald Imosemi said, it had become the tradition of the Rotary Club of Lagos Central to appreciate employees of the hospital, who have been very hardworking in the past one year after visiting to donate to the First Baby of the Year.
“This year, we have as the Best Junior Staff, Anifat Ayinke Ologundudu, while the Best Senior Staff went to Mrs. Modiya Omotoyosi Mumuni.
“The hospital is in full support of the encouragement being given to staff members of the hospital to boost their morale.
Speaking at the occasion, the past President of the Club, Ademola Alli, said the club has been partnering with the hospital for 34 years.
“We hold support for health services as one of our cardinal programmes in the club and over the years, we have been coming here to identify the areas we can be of assistance to the hospital.
“We are here today to felicitate with the First Baby of the Year and to give a token gift to the mother in cash and kind with prayers that the baby would grow up to become a useful citizen, not only of Lagos State but also the nation and the world at large.
“We have provided all sorts of medical and administrative equipment to the hospital including incubators, laundry tools, insecticide and treated nets among others.
“We also use this period to encourage the workers by giving awards to the Best Junior Staff and the Best Senior Staff every year.
“We congratulate the winners this year and the club would be looking into the possibility of expanding the award by making it ward by ward every year,” he said.
