When the name is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is gospel music and worship. Yes, this young man has made a name in the gospel music in Africa, and the world at large. He has been able to capture the hearts of millions of people by his unique style of singing. It would be an understatement to say that Frank is one of the most popular gospel singers in Africa. This can be seen from the number of albums he sells yearly which runs into millions. Yet there is another side to him that the world doesn’t know. This could be attributed to his humble and somewhat shy personality, since he hardly grants interviews or audience to the media. I guess getting him to open up about his personal life and activities could be termed an accomplishment!
Frank Edwards apart from being an acclaimed celebrity is also a big time philanthropist. You heard right! During a chat we had, he revealed some amazing secrets of his success, longevity and durability in the music industry. While a lot of artist are busy seeking for fame, popularity and power, this young man is busy doing good. While some “celebrities” are wasting millions of naira buying customized gold necklace and other frivolities, Frank is busy investing in lives, which according to him is the best investment anyone can make. “My brother,it didn’t start today o.Ever since I can remember, I have always been helping people, sponsoring kids in school, and the rest, even before I got to where I am now. Presently, I’m sponsoring about 187 people in school, the greater part of them being in higher institutions like LASU, UNN, etc. It’s what I love doing, and it’s one of the secrets of my success in life. The more I do good, the more God blesses me.I’m not doing good because I am too blessed, but I’m so blessed because I’m doing good” he said. Frank currently has some people living with him, and based on the love and bond between him and this guys, one would think they were his biological brothers, but Frank dropped another bombshell, “we are in no way related. This boys are homeless. And I had to provide them with accommodation. I vividly recall my mum asking me to take in my siblings to live with me. I turned down that request, because like I pointed out to her, my siblings are okay staying with my mum, at least they have a decent place to live. But these boys have nowhere and no one to go to. It gives me great joy and satisfaction whenever I have the opportunity of being a blessing”. In the course of the chat, Frank told a hilarious story that left us reeling with laughter. According to him, he stopped by a primary school with dilapidated structures, and leaking roof. It was so bad that whenever it rained, the children would huddle in one classroom which was the only part of the school that was not leaking. When he got there, he saw the headmistress, greeted her, and asked her what he could do to help her and the school. But the woman did not even know him! He felt amused. Anyway, as we speak, there is a great renovation work going on in that school which Frank is personally sponsoring. He spoke on several other issues, and at the end of the day, he summed up our discussion with an insightful statement “when you are busy affecting lives, when you have so many people that are dependent on you for their survival, when you are reaching out to the helpless and hopeless, you do not have to fear death, because God himself will personally attend to you. This is the best security any man on earth can have. I have some good things in life, but I’m not focused on them. The cars will get damaged, the house will after some few years go obsolete, but what will live on, even after I am gone will be the good deeds I did when I was alive.so I want to encourage everyone everywhere to be their brother’s keeper, because that is the primary reason God blessed you-to be a blessing”.
