Rotary canvasses public support for poor children

childrenThe President, Rotary Club of Ikeja, Mr. Tosin Kadiri, has called on the private sector to reach out to the less privileged children this Yuletide season.

Speaking at a Christmas party organised for children of SOS Village, Isolo, recently, Kadiri said the Christmas season was a time when many children desired to be loved and showered with gifts.

Kadiri said, “It is expedient that we all celebrate with these children in order to make them happy and feel to be part of the society.”

He said the programme tagged, ‘We care,’ “is a humanitarian programme the club started 20 years ago.”

Kadiri added that it was aimed at extending joy and happiness to the less privileged children.

The Rotary boss expressed joy at the excitement expressed by the children and pledged to continue to reach many more during the Yuletide season.

He said, “I feel happy with the kids today because this is one programme they expect from the Rotary Club of Ikeja every year and I am glad that we did not disappoint them this year.”

Elated by the club’s gesture, the Village Family’s Care Coordinator, Mr. Felix Ebhota, described the Rotary Club of Ikeja as the centre’s strong partner in terms of support for the children in the village.

Such a formidable programme, he said, was the kind of partnership the village desires in order to brighten the mood of the children.

He implored other organisations to emulate the club by coming to the aid of the SOS Village and other homes for the less privileged children.
