Baale Soluyi II, Solomon Olamiju was overwhelmed with joy during the maiden visit of Rotary District Governor, District 9110 comprising Lagos and Ogun States, Otunba Bola Onabadejo and his entourage, among whom was the President, Rotary Club of Gbagada, Adenuga Taiwo.
Olamiju described the visit as a historic because of treated mosquito nets that the Club gave to the people in the community. While saying that mosquito nets were the best present needed in the community, he declared: “Mosquitoes are like special breed here and it is very thoughtful of you to provide us with mosquito nets.
You are the first visitors to present us mosquito nets and we are very grateful. “It may not be within your purview and of course we know it is a great task, but at the same time we are soliciting your assistance on our roads that need rehabilitation.”
Otunba Onabadejo, who ascribed it a ‘special meaning’ the reception of his entourage in the ‘Church’ and not in the ‘palace’, prayed that God would not only establish the community leader’s kingdom, who doubles as a minister of the Most High God, but also prosper him and promote him above his present status.
He assured Olamiju that Rotary would continue to fight special mosquitoes that are in Lagos as it has been fighting polio since 1985, which is near extinction now in Nigeria.
The Club also visited Gbagada General Hospital where equipment such as ‘vital signs monitor,’ ‘suction machine,’ as well as ‘digital/manual blood pressure measuring machine called ‘sphygmomanometer’ were donated to the hospital.
Adenuga said the club was there to perform its annual rites by supplying to the hospital those equipment that were urgently needed according to the need assessment conducted by the Club on the hospital.
The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Tayo Lawal, expressed satisfaction that the Club brought exactly what the hospital needed as was told and would ensure the equipment were distributed to the various departments of need, adding that adequate maintenance would be accorded the equipment.
