A Global Humanitarian Organization, Voice of Change Network International is set to organize its second International Change Agents Award Conference in Lagos. The event which is billed to take place on the 3rd day of October is an attempt at trying to locate and celebrate organizations and individuals who are trying all they could to add value to humanity. The Selfless Service To Humanity Award is a much coveted award that is given purely on merit based on the selfless service of the recipient. The first edition of the conference held on the fifth day of September, and the recipient of the award was Rev Mrs. Sophy Mbanisi, the president and founder of Healing Hearts Foundation, an organization committed to alleviating poverty among the widows, aged, and the less privileged children. The event was a colourful one, as people from all walks of life converged the premises to witness the ceremony.
No less impactful would be the upcoming one on 3rd October where Mrs Chioma Ohakwe would bag this prestigious award for her genuine acts of compassionate and passionate service to the blind. Mrs. Ohakwe who would be there with some of her visibly impaired students has promised the invited guests that her students would thrill the crowd with their masterful rendition of songs, drama, dance, and many more.
Speaking with newsmen over the week, the president of Voice of Change, Mr. Gregory Azemobor stated that the organization thought it fit to give the award to Mrs. Ohakwe as a result of what she is doing to give light to blind people. “She is a celebrity, because she is living her life for others, not looking for what she can get from them, but rather at what she can give to them. Consequently, she gave them their eyes back by giving them hope!” He enthused.
The conference is slated to kick off with Red Carpet reception by 9am.The event proper begins by 10am and ends by 1pm at Voice of Change premises, No 1 Bayode Oluwole street, by Balogun Bustop, off Awolowo Way,Ikeja,Lagos.
