Like the parabolic Good Samaritan in the Bible, there is a group which bears the same name, and is reaching out to those whose lives have been made hard by the prevailing circumstances around them. Yes, the Open Heart Samaritan Mission (aka The Good Samaritan) is an organization committed to providing selfless service to humanity. The organization which was established ten years ago is actively involved in activities involving, but not limited to the following:
- Running free medical checkup
- Prison visitation and prisoners’ empowerment
- Hospital visitations, etc.
Speaking with newsmen over the weekend, the president and founder of the Good Samaritan Mission, Pastor Favour Omomuwa stated that the organization which currently has about fifteen ( 15) members has done a lot to reach out to about five to six thousand people since it was established years ago. In the same vein, pastor Omomuwa stated. “We are here to create the culture of love among humanity. We pray with those who are in prisons or hospitals, we counsel them, and also render financial assistance. We are trying to teach everyman to be his brother’s keeper. When Jesus finished narrating his story of the Good Samaritan, he told us to go and do likewise. And that is our message: go and do likewise. Be a good neighbor. Show love!”
According to pastor Omomuwa, the major challenge confronting the organization is lack of adequate finances to execute some projects they have in mind. “We have a vision to establish schools and hospitals where tuition and treatment is free. It is also in our heart to have an orphanage home where we take proper care of children who have no one to care for them. But we are not yet into these because of lack of funds, and all our outreaches are sponsored by us. We raise money among ourselves in order to conduct the free tests and treatment. We need people to support us, because what we are doing is sacrificial. With more funds, we can definitely do more”, he lamented.
The Good Samaritan organization can be invited for free medical consultation and checkup exercise. To support their work financially, and for participation in their activities, you can contact the President directly on 08023653045
